Churna or Powder is prepared from different part of herbs like: seeds, leaves and roots after they have been completely dried. It is the preparation comprising of fine powders of drugs. First, Medicinal plants are dried and powdered. It is the simplest form of preparation and use. Simple churnas consists of only one ingredient while a compound one consists of more than one ingredient. Drug having more than one ingredient is made by the separate grinding and then mixing them homogenously.

Churnas are as good as are asavas and arishtas for the eradication of diseases. The principle of using Churnas is due to the fact that therapeutic value of most of the substances is greatly increases when they are reduces to vary fine state of subdivion and is particularly notable in the cases of antacids, protective and adsorbents. They are also easily administrable specially in the cases of children where they can not swallow pills, tablets or capsules.

The efficacy of churnas depends on the uses of fresh and genuine herbs and their careful compounding.

Alterative tonic, aphrodisiac and anti-rheumatic, indicated in impotency, spermatorrhoea, old age debility and leucorrhoea.

 

Avipattikar churna

Purgative, carminative, Indicated in hyperacidity. Indigestion, constipation, heart burn, vomiting,
dropsy biliousness, melancholia and rheumatoid.

 

Amalaki Churna

Bleeding disorders, cough, asthma and rejuvenator

 

Balachaturbhadra Churna

Useful for children in fever diarrhoea, cough, asthma and vomiting.

 

Bilwadi Churna

Astringent and alterative. Indicated in sprue, Diarrhoea and dysentery.

 

Chandanadi churna

Stimulant, Demulcent and urinary antiseptic. Used in gonorrhoea, leucorrhoea, menorrhagia, cystitis, genito-urinary infection, thirst, extreme heat and coma.

 

Dhatupaustik Churna

Alterative and tonic. Indicated in premature senility, restores vitality & gives strength & vigour.

 

 

Dhanyapanchak churna

Carminative and antemetic. Indicated in vomiting, indigestion and anorexia.

 

Gangadhar churna
